It depends on the model. The Cinderella Comfort (electric) includes a small backup battery in every unit so if power cuts out, the heating element stops immediately, but the battery keeps the fan running so it can finish exhausting and cooling down the chamber. The Cinderella Freedom (propane) can run on standard house power or directly off a generator, 12V marine battery or solar setup; if it’s plugged into wall power and the power goes out, it’s simple to disconnect the adapter and connect a battery instead to keep using the toilet without interruption. For fully off-grid installations already running on solar or battery power, a grid outage isn’t a factor at all. If the power will be out for an extended period the ash container should be emptied. Un-incinerated waste left in the chamber is corrosive and can damage internal components over time.
